 The Stereo MCs founder members Rob Birch and Nick "the head" Hallam are both from Ruddington and have been friends since the age of six. They are renowned for their own distinctive brand of rap-based music. Many tracks from their hit album 'Connected' are part of British subconcious psyche due to sampling in adverts, films and TV jingles. After nine years out of the limelight they have returned in 2001 with a new album.

| HEWSON, Sherrie
 Stage and screen - Actress
 Sherrie was born in Burton Joyce as Sherrie Lynn Hutchinson. In the 1970's Sherrie changed her surname to Hewson, as she was advised that Hutchinson was too long. By the age of six, Sherrie was in revues around the country, tap-dancing and singing "You've Gotta Have Heart". Before playing Maureen Elliot in Coronation Street, Sherrie was best known for her regular comedy appearances in Russ Abbott's Madhouse, The Russ Abbott Show and Russ Abbott.

 1900-1982 | HITCHCOCK, Alma Reville
 Stage and screen - Theatre
 Alma Reville is perhaps best known as the wife of director Alfred Hitchcock, but she was also an assistant director and a screenwriter. Alma was her husband's constant professional collaborator and soulmate. In addition to her formal professional duties, Reville also provided the great director with invaluable constructive criticism, functioning as his 'ultimate authority,' throughout his long career.

 Hero/villain
 Is he fact or is he fiction; a hero or a villain? Whatever the answer Robin Hood has certainly made his mark on Nottingham and the whole of the world. Wherever you travel, mention you come from Nottinghamshire and nine times out of ten the reply is "Ahh, Robin Hood." Together with his Merry Men, Robin is said to have stolen from the rich and the evil, like King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, and given to the poor. Immortalised in films staring Errol Flynn and Kevin Costner, the popularity of the man in Lincoln Green shows no signs of waning.
 Key Achievements:Escaping the Sheriff of Nottingham by hiding in the Major Oak, redistributing the countries wealth, an ambassador for Nottinghamshire tourism.

 1726 - 1799 | HOWE, Lord Admiral Richard
 Soldier - War hero
 Richard Howe was born in 1726, the fourth Viscount Howe, and joined the Navy when he was only 14. By 20, he had risen to captain and he was credited with firing the first shots of the Seven Years War. His mastery of combat on the high seas meant he rarely lost a battle. He is best remembered for his victory over the French fleet in the battle called the First of June in 1794. The courageous captain earned the dubious nickname "Black Dick" because he was said never to smile unless a battle was about to begin.Lord Nelson called Lord Howe a "great master in tactics and bravery".

 d.1968 | HOWITT, T.Cecil
 Designer - Architect
 Cecil Howitt has certainly left his mark on Nottingham. He designed the Council House which, with it great bell chiming the hours, dominates the city centre today. It was built on the site left vacant after the demolition of the old Exchange. In 1929, the Prince of Wales took the first official steps down the Processional Way, part of Howitt's ‘slabbed square', watched by a 50,000 crowd. The ten-and-a-half ton bell, Little John, renowned as the deepest-toned in Britain, rang out to signal the city's pride. It is regarded by many as the finest municipal building outside London.
