The park is Grade II Listed on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens and contains nine Listed buildings and structures.

Above you find yourself looking up at the memorial to Samuel Morley

Other listed structures include the Chinese Bell Tower, the bandstand and the circular aviary, the East Lodge, the statue to campaigning politician Feargus O’Connor and the Addison Street tunnel.

Other notable features include the lake, aviaries, the Dahlia borders and Rose garden as well as many flowerbeds, mature shrubs and trees.

It's nice to see that it has also been admired by our neighbours for many a year:

"Our neighbours, Nottingham, have long set us an example in this respect. Their Arboretum always free to the public, has been kept up in a manner which has become the envy of Derby visitors. Brilliant flower beds form the central attraction in well kept grounds to which the public retort with delight! Whilst Derby Arboretum has, however never been noted - of late years - for anything but its unadorned barrenness and its barn like monstrosity." Derby Mercury (1882)
