You're planning to write us a review? That's great, here we can tell you what's expected. Choosing a book The first step is to choose a book - because this is a website for North Yorkshire, that book must have a local connection. Perhaps the author is local, or maybe the book is set in the county? We cannot publish reviews of books which do not have a strong local connection. How many words? The good news, is that it doesn't have to be very long, About 250 - 400 words would be perfect. However, it must be at least 250 words, otherwise it won't fill a page! Your views We really want your own words, expressed as calmly or vehemently as you feel about the book you're reviewing. Take a look at some of the reviews we've already received for an idea. Remember though, this is a family web site, so we won't publish profane or libelous reviews. In brief, we'd like the review to be in four parts: - an introductory paragraph, including the name of both book and author.
- a short synopsis, (not the whole story).
- your opinion on how well it's written.
- a few words on whether you'd recommend it, (even though it might be obvious by this point)..
Fill in the form to send in your review If the book is an audio edition: Mention the reader's name, your opinion about the way the book was read and do comment on how it felt to listen, rather than read by sight.
A good review will give your reader a sense of what the book's about as well as your opinion of it. Ideally it should persuade others to read the book, or conversely to avoid it! Sending in your review Once you've written your review, just copy it into the form below. That's it! So get writing, - we want to hear from you soon! |
