What we do - Deliver accredited training in citizenship – helping people to understand the structures of government, what it means to live in a democracy and how to become active citizens.
- Facilitate youth groups to talk about identity, prejudice, sectarianism, racism and the issues that divide us.
- Coordinate Community Relations Week in Derry/Londonderry where community organisations or individuals put on events or activities to highlight the work they are doing to improve relations between communities.
- Provide a mediation service for people who are in dispute.
- Train young people to become peer mediators in their schools or youth groups. This will help them to resolve conflicts.
- Deliver ‘women into politics’ training – helping women, young and old, to become involved in politics both at a local level within the community or at a party political level.
Examples of our work Two groups of young people from Derry/Londonderry asked their youth leader could they meet on a weekly basis to look at identity and other issues around prejudice, sectarianism and racism. The youth leader sourced funding and invited PRG to work with each group individually and then bring them together for cross-community discussions. Ardoyne Youth Congress (through their youth club) asked us to deliver accredited training in citizenship, as well as an introduction to conflict resolution and mediation skills.
