Wintertime

Despite an obvious streak of vanity
I have found to my irritation
That my lack of discipline
Has resulted in
A layer of fat
Around my waist
And beneath my chin
That I suspect
Is more
Than a little
Festive weight
Or the result
Of a recent
Alcohol binge.

And despite my best efforts
To remedy this
And remove the fat
I have only
Succeeded
In getting
A head cold
From cycling
In the evening
In the Winterime
Without a hat.
