3 Desert Island Essentials: a jumbo jet, pilot and portable runway Anything to declare? I started off as an apprentice toolmaker and was sacked immediately because of bad attitude. Retired in a huff to bedroom carrying a guitar and emerged three years later as a rock and roll guitar player. Played in bands and lived in England, Dublin, Canada and America until I got too old to stay up three days in a row. Dropped out of rock and roll and went to University for 5 years. Lectured at college for one year and became editor of small local magazine. Started to do occasional pieces for Radio Foyle and ended up doing a daily show which transferred to Radio Ulster. Was asked to do daily programme on Radio 4. Foolishly did so and lasted less than one year. In the meantime did talk show on television for three years which stopped when Radio 4 did. Resumed daily show on Radio Foyle/Ulster. Will die soon. |
