Innocence

by Joanne Hurrell

Sweet dreams little princess, treasure them well,

How long childhood lasts no-body can tell,

We are now living longer but ageing so fast,

No-one knows how long innocence will last,

Cherish the monsters and the ghouls under your bed,

Your imagination is working away in your head,

You call out my name as the light goes out,

But i promise you my darking there is no reason to shout,

I would give all i have to turn back time,

No understanding of hatred, no knowledge of crime,

Our world is slowly falling apart,

Hold onto your innocence, precious sweetheart.
