Sad Old Stella By Billy Bacon I met an old girl called Stella Easter Monday in Portrush She was on a day trip from stranocum And had stopped off in the bush She had downed half a dozen whiskeys or more And was not feeling any pain So I walked her down to a local pub Just to get her out of the rain Then the alcohol popped the old girls cork That had bottled up her life Then she poured me out a story About a lad who wanted her to be his wife How her over protective father Had put an end to the lads crusade And how he had cut him to the quick With a doctors scalpel blade But she had cut him to the bone When she said she would meet him in the pub Not long after that reality smacked him in the gub I said I know that fella You are on about Stella He runs the Anderson motel on the north east corner of heaven and hell She got up and said i have to fly As a single teardrop left her eye Then I realized it’s so easy to lie To break people’s hearts and make them cry Young Dan had offered his love eggs But she turned around and brokum And regrets it to this very day Sad old Stella from stranocum A tribute to Dan Eggs
