Seeing the Whole Picture header

Young Catholics and Protestants took up their cameras to photograph the good and bad aspects of their neighbourhoods. Their photos tell stories about what they think should be celebrated and the bits they could do without. Get a different picture of Northern Ireland through the eyes of young people.

Short Strand and Inner East header

Short Strand is a working class Catholic enclave in the predominantly Protestant district of east Belfast. A peaceline separates Catholics from their working class Protestant neighbours. Despite the tensions young people from the Short Strand Parent and Youth Group worked with young people from the Inner East Youth Project to explore their respective communities and produce a photographic essay of where they lived. Take a closer look at these neighbourhoods and listen to what the pictures mean to the young people who took them.
