Sweet double boost for Norwich's Neutrinos

Norwich band The Neutrinos will be showing off their rock posturing in front of thousands when they warm up for top pop group Sugababes at Somerleyton Hall. Their support slot falls in the same week as the release of their second album.

Norwich punk-rockers The Neutrinos will unveil songs from their new album in front of a crowd of thousands when they play a support slot for pop pin-ups Sugababes.

The chart-toppers are performing an outdoor concert at Somerleyton Hall, near Great Yarmouth, and have picked The Neutrinos to open their show.

Their set on Friday, 10 August, 2007 will bring to a close a busy week for the Norwich four-piece.

The band - led by flamboyant front woman Karen Reilly - release their second album, One Way Kiss, on Monday, 6 August, 2007.

With the other artists on the Sugababes bill including funky soul outfit Kojo and melodic rockers Ben's Brother, The Neutrinos will add an edginess to the line-up with their brand of energetic guitar-based rock.

"It may seem a strange one for us to do," said singer Karen, "but then they are trying to toughen up their image these days."

"It should be both fun and challenging playing to a totally different audience to our usual one."

The band's 11-track album is the follow-up to their 2004 debut Sick Love and was recorded at The Mill in Winfarthing, near Diss.

It's the same studio that Catherine Feeny - who recently signed to EMI - used for her album Hurricane Glass, and the Norwich-based singer makes an appearance on one of The Neutrinos' new tracks.

News that the former John Peel favourites have been chosen to open the Sugababes show is the latest highlight in an exciting year.

They've already appeared at Berlin's British Music Week, closed Manchester's Girls Got The Blues Festival and were invited to Toronto's North By North East.

One Way Kiss is being brought out on Wet Nurse Records on 6 August, 2007. The Sugababes concert featuring The Neutrinos, takes place at Somerleyton Hall, between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, on 10 August, 2007. Call IML Concerts on 01603 660444 for more details and tickets.
