Audition adviceGet some advice on how to impress at an audition from some of our industry experts. Patrick Jean-Paul-Denis - Performer and vocal coach Be confident with who you are.. when you get into the audition room be friendly but make sure you are focused. Also don't let anyone else intimidate you, you have to know that you've got something to offer and then just do the best you can do. Maggie Russell - Head of Talent, BBC Wales
Best tip - remember to breathe! At an audition we are trying to see the best of YOU so try to be as natural as possible. Imagine you are performing to someone you know well. Come as yourself don't feel you have to try and put on a performance.
I've sat on audition panels before and am always surprised at some people's lack of preparation: they walk in and say "I'm not really sure what I'm going to do... err.. " This is NOT a way of impressing the judges! You've got to be really prepared.
Kim Chandler, Singer and vocal coach
Nick Mirsky - Executive Producer, BBC Documentaries Be yourself and don't pretend. If you do get flustered, embrace it and start again. Don't try to put on an act, the more natural you can be, the better. |
