There's nothing better than watching a festive treat with friends or family, and so here's Newsround's guide to what's on TV over the Christmas season.

Even though there'll be no Doctor Who this year, we'll be treated to brand new animations, pop star diaries, celebrity singing shows and silly comedies.

So here are some of the highlights that you might like to tune in to...

First up a wonderful story adapted from a picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

This year, it's the turn of The Scarecrows' Wedding, a tale of scarecrows Betty O'Barley and Harry O'Hay who are planning their big day together.

Can they overcome farmyard chaos and drama, as well as the actions of scarecrow Reginald Rake, to save the day?

We'll have to wait until Christmas Day on BBC iPlayer and BBC One to find out.

Christmas will be coming early for Swifties, with the release of behind the scenes documentary series The End of an Era, and a film of the final ever show from The Eras Tour.

The concert from Vancouver in Canada will feature the updated show with songs from The Tortured Poets Department.

The first two episodes from The End of an Era and The Eras Tour: The Final Show will premiere from Friday 12 December on Disney+.

The Gladiators are ready... but are these famous faces ready enough to take them on?

Competing in a special Christmas episode are the UK's PE teacher Joe Wicks, presenter Sam Thompson, boxing legend Nicola Adams and podcaster Vogue Williams.

You can catch the one-off episode on Christmas Day on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Celebrity competition fans are in for another treat over on ITV, as The Masked Singer will be back for another Christmas special.

Not much is known about this year's episode, but it's thought it will spark the beginning of the show's seventh series.

The last series was won by Pufferfish, revealed to be musical theatre star, Samantha Barks.

Pudsey and the Thread of Hope

A new animation featuring BBC Children in Need's famous bear will be released over Christmas, following young Jai as they navigate a journey of loss with Pudsey.

It's based on a story by musician and writer Tom Fletcher, who says: "I hope that, together, through the animation and the book, we can raise money and awareness that helps provide support, connection, and care - when it matters most."

It'll air on Christmas Eve on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and then Saturday 27 December on CBeebies and CBBC.

The clumsy character finds himself in charge of another luxury home to look after... as well as a baby.

You might recognise Rowan Atkinson from the film Wonka, where he played Father Julius or Mr Bean.

The contestants announced are presenter Scarlett Moffatt, singers Melanie Blatt and Brian McFadden, actor Nicholas Bailey, comedian Babatunde Aléshé and Jodie Ounsley... aka Fury from Gladiators.

But will she be able to live up to Nitro's performance on this year's Strictly?

Christmastime will see the return of the fantasy adventure show for a second season on Disney+ on 10 December.

Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on the second book of Rick Riordan's original series, The Sea of Monsters.

The new episodes will bring in more characters from the books, including cyclops Tyson, and Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus.

Legoland at Christmas will see the team at the Windsor resort build six new grottos and install the world's biggest Lego Christmas tree in time for the 20,000 guests who visit every day.

It'll be on Channel 4 on 17 December.
