Trash talk of the town: Meet the bin lorries with names

Not all heroes wear capes, some smell faintly of banana peel.
If you think bin lorries are just big, noisy trucks that wake you up in the morning, think again.
Not only do they do a really important job collecting rubbish, in South Tyneside, in the north of England, bin lorries are basically celebrities now - with the names to match.
What would you name a gritter truck?

Last November, the council asked people a very important question: "What should we name our brand-new bin lorries?"
More than 200 brilliant, bonkers and silly names were sent in.
Next, the lorry crews picked their favourites, and then 640 residents voted to choose the final winners.
Here are the 16 winning bin lorry names:

All this naming fun is part of a big upgrade. The council is investing millions of pounds in shiny new vehicles, which the council says "will help improve our service to residents".
These superstar bin lorries rolled on to streets from the end of January.
So if you're in the South Tyneside area, keep your eyes peeled... you might just spot Rubbisharus Rex rumbling past your window.
