A peacock in Leicestershire has become a social media star after he ran away from home in December.

Dave the peacock was later spotted in Broughton Astley, which is four miles away from where he lives.

He quickly became a bit of an icon in the village, with people posting updates about his adventures in a Facebook group called 'The Dave Diary'.

They also had lots of fun making memes of Dave getting up to mischief - showing him flying a plane, relaxing on the beach and going to the gym.

After spending a few weeks exploring, he's now safely back at home with his owners.

Alex Robinson - who owns Dave and three other peacocks - said her feathered friends are used to roaming around freely outdoors and that they usually come back from their walks.

She added: "Dave has taken it a little bit too far this time."

After lots of failed attempts, she finally caught him on Tuesday.

But now it looks like two of the other peacocks, called Kenneth and Margaret, have decided to follow in his footsteps...

They've ran off into the countryside in a village called Leire!
