Erling Haaland smashes Premier League 100-goal record

Superstar striker Erling Haaland is pretty used to making football history.

Among his many achievements, he holds the title for being the quickest player to score fifty Champions League goals, the only player to score hat-tricks in three back-to-back Premier League home games, and he's already Norway's all-time top scorer too.

And now he's smashed yet another record.

The Manchester City striker has reached 100 Premier League goals faster than anyone else in the competition's history.

Haaland broke the record on Tuesday evening, when he scored City's first goal in their 5-4 thriller away at Fulham.

In the 17th minute he steered home Jeremy Doku's cross to fire in his 100th goal for the north-west club.

It's taken Haaland just 111 games to score 100 goals - beating the previous record set by Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer in 1995 by 13 appearances.

After the match, Haaland said he was delighted by his achievement.

He told BBC's Match of the Day that it was "a proud moment."

Haaland explained: "The 100 club is a huge thing. To do it this quickly is amazing. I'm proud, I'm happy.

"I've said it many times - a striker for City should score a lot of goals. That's my job, that's what I try to do. And I'm not bad at it!"

Despite his incredible goal scoring record, he needs a few more if he wants to become the Premier League's all-time top scorer.

That record still belongs to Alan Shearer, who netted 260 goals during his career. Although based on Haaland's current form, he could break Shearer's record in the next four seasons.
