Who will win this year's Sport's Personality of the Year Award?

Some of the UK's biggest and best sports stars will gathering next week to celebrate 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The awards ceremony celebrates amazing sporting achievements from the year, and is taking place in Salford on 18 December.

The show is hosted by Gabby Logan, Alex Scott and Clare Balding, and there are seven award categories, including Young Sports Personality of the Year and Coach of the Year.

The public can vote online for who they think should win the main award on the night.

A shortlist of six top sporting stars has been revealed ahead of the event, but who has been nominated, and who will win the Sports Personality of the Year award?

Hannah Hampton

Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has had a huge year, helping England to win the European Championship final.

The 25-year-old was named player of the match, and has since won the Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d'Or awards, which is given to the world's best female goalkeeper.

Hannah also played a key role in her club Chelsea's treble win, and was joint winner of the WSL's Golden Glove award with 13 clean sheets in 22 games.

Chloe Kelly

Fellow Lioness Chloe Kelly has also had a cracker of a year.

She helped England to win the European Championship with a decisive penalty against Spain in the final.

The 27-year-old was named in the team of the tournament, and was also integral to her club, Arsenal, winning the Women's Champions League this year.

Ellie Kildunne

It was a massive year for rugby superstar Ellie Kildunne.

She scored five tries and was a key player in England's victory in the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Earlier in the year the 26-year-old scored nine tries for England in the Six Nations, and at club level, she scored 14 tries for Harlequins during the 2024-25 season.

Luke Littler

Darts player Luke Littler has had a sensational year in 2025.

Aged 17 he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

His triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts then meant that he ranked number one in the world for the first time.

Now aged 18, he is the youngest man to achieve such a feat - smashing the previous record set by Michael Van Gerwen who was 24 years old at the time.

Rory McIlroy

Famous golfer Rory McIlroy has had a pretty epic comeback this year.

After years of frustration and near misses, his victory at the Masters this year made him the sixth man in history to complete a Grand Slam of all four major golf championships.

The 36-year-old's win at Augusta was his first victory at a major since 2014.

He also won at the Players Championship, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Irish Open.

Lando Norris

Formula 1 racer Lando Norris has ended 2025 on a high.

This year he became the 11th Briton to win a Formula 1 drivers' championship - emerging victorious in the closest finish to a season for 15 years.

Going into the final race of the year at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lando just managed to pip his rivals to finish third, giving him the overall title win.
