Behind the scenes at CBBC Live in Newcastle Gateshead
- Published

The CBBC channel is spending the weekend in Newcastle Gateshead in the north east of England. There's a host of special activities going on and Newsround has gone along for the ride too. Here's Ricky rehearsing for a live Newsround bulletin on Friday afternoon.

Ricky and Ayshah will be reporting, and presenting some of our Newsround bulletins from there. Make sure you catch them on TV - or come along and see them live!

It's not only Newsround taking part. Blue Peter is there too. Barney and Radzi posed for this snap while rehearsing their show. But where is Lyndsey...?

She's chilling out back stage with Ayshah and Ricky! Only kidding... it's a cardboard cutout - but Ricky's never one to pass up a photo opportunity.

Anyone for chicken tennis? Ricky and Ayshah look as baffled as we are by this Horrible Histories experience - and there are loads of other CBBC favourites on show.

Recognise this cuddly character? It's Ricky, posing with Ayshah, and Elmo from the new CBeebies show Furchester Hotel.

Selfie time! These local kids have been helping us make the news - they're making a report for Friday's Newsround - with Ayshah and Ricky's help!

There's lots to go hands-on with - and legs-on too! This cycle challenge game is hooked up to a big screen. If you're feeling sporty you can try your hand at rowing too.

Here's Hacker T Dog rehearsing on the main stage, ready for his close-up. Where's Chris? He better not be late or Hacker will be LIVID!

Argh you ready to have some fun? This pirate and mermaid certainly are! Visitors can take part in lots of hands-on activities.

The stars of CBeebies show Swashbuckle have the audience hooked during a live performance. CBBC Live gives you a chance to see your favourite people off the telly in person!

You may even see some famous faces. Pop superstar Pixie Lott performed some of her songs on the Blue Peter stage.

It looks like Ayshah's been recruited for a dance troupe! Why not come and see the show? CBBC Live in Newcastle Gateshead is free to attend and is taking place in and around Baltic Square in Gateshead on 29, 30 and 31 May.

Robin, 8, is one of the kids getting involved at CBBC Live on Saturday. Here she is having a go on a bike. Her favourite bit so far was seeing CBBC's Katie because she is her favourite presenter.

On the rowing machine is seven-year-old CJ. He's been super busy doing lots of different sports to try to win a medal, and he's looking forward to meeting Hacker.

Grace, 9, shows off her medal. She's been busy rowing, cycling, stretching and warming up to win it in the sport tent and she's pretty chuffed with! She is looking forward to meeting children's author Simon Bartram.

Sisters Tallulah, 8, and Tosin, 7, love Horrible Histories. Here they have a laugh pretending to be DNN's Davina Wave.

Katy and Alex try their hand at being DJs. They met Johnny and Inel, and are looking forward to winning sport medals.

Here's Taylor attempting the world record for the fastest Jenga tower. Look at the concentration on his face!

Taylor had to build 10 new levels. He was close - managing nine! Ricky and Ayshah had a go at this world record attempt too - watch the report elsewhere on the website to see how they did.
