Bow Wow says he's going to retire from music to "start a new adventure".

The 29-year-old rapper says he's going to release one more album, which will be executive produced by Snoop Dogg, before hanging up his mic.

In a series of posts on social media, Shad Moss, or Lil' Bow Wow as he used to be known, says he always planned to retire before he turned 30.

To some, it's not much of a surprise as his recent albums have failed to hit the success of earlier work.

By working with Snoop, who he worked with on Bow Wow (That's My Name) in 2000, he says it's "only right" to end his career with him.

He posted on Instagram: "Retirement only means that it is time for a new adventure" over 10 million sold. This the last one. THANK YOU for the musical journey! I'm NOT coming back wearing the 4-5. ITS OVER, external

There's also talk that this final album will be released along with a biopic movie.

Last year he announced, external he'd signed to Diddy's label Bad Boy Records.

The process of the album has "begun", he said. But it will be a while for release as Snoop is on tour.

He posted on Twitter: "I always said years ago I'd retire from music before 30. I just cant see myself at 30 years old rapping", external

"Made over 20 million off rap. Why be greedy? Im good with everything i accomplished. I made it to the white house," he continued., external

Bow Wow's career peaked in the early '00s when he released several platinum-selling albums.

But his last studio album, released in 2009, failed to sell well.
