Hillary Clinton mural in Melbourne replaced with woman in burqa, then painted over

A controversial street artist in Australia has painted over a mural showing US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a bikini.
Lushsux depicted the Democrat as a stripper with dollar bills stuffed into the side of the swimsuit.
The local council in Melbourne had threatened to try to find a way to get rid of it.
But the artist painted over the mural himself, replacing Hillary Clinton with a Muslim woman wearing a burqa.

The mural is in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray.
Maribyrnong Council chief executive Stephen Wall told ABC News that the mural should not have been painted in the first place.
"We believe it is offensive because of the depiction of a near-naked woman, not on the basis of disrespect to Hillary Clinton, in accordance with the Graffiti Prevention Act 2007," he said last week.
Lushsux filmed himself painting over the mural.
Maribyrnong Council said they had intended to issue a notice to the building's owner to remove the mural within 10 days.
Lushsux accused the council of being out of control and said it was "on par offence-wise" with a deodorant advert.
The mural of the woman in a burqa has also now been painted over.
Lushsux wrote: "Looks like the council wins."

This isn't the first time the street artist, whose real name is Mark Walls, has run into trouble with authorities.
He recently had to paint over part of Donald Trump's anatomy with Hillary Clinton's head.

There's also a mural of Donald Trump's wife Melania naked at the end of an alley with two versions of his face covering her chest.
The New York Post has been criticised this week after running two front pages showing the former model posing nude.

Another mural in Melbourne proclaiming "the death" of Taylor Swift was painted over last month.
The mock memorial was replaced with a cartoon face scrawled over it and the words "In loving memory of Harambe", the gorilla shot dead by zookeepers in the US.

A mural based on Kim Kardashian's naked selfie was also defaced days after being painted in the Australian city in March.
It appeared in the Cremorne suburb.

But the 10-metre tall mural had paint thrown at it and had a rude word written across the bottom.
