Cigar sales continue to grow despite global downturn

Cigars have always occupied a proud place in Cuban culture but now they are also an important asset against the global economic downturn.

Sales in 2011 reached $401m, partly due to growing exports to the UK and Germany.

There is also an increasingly demand from growing markets like China, Russia and Brazil.
