The Jersey Development Company wants to build six office blocks
Demand for quality office space in Jersey justifies building the Esplanade Finance Quarter in St Helier, the Jersey Development Company has said.
Work on the first phase is due to start in the spring after planning approval was granted in January, external.
Senator Alan Breckon said he would prefer a "more cautious approach" to reduce risk of failure.
But Jersey Development Company said there has already been a lot of interest from prospective tenants.
The company plans to build six office blocks with underground car parking, with the first two buildings and car park completed in two years.
