Jersey Heritage has appealed to local businesses for any documents they feel may be worth archiving.
The organisation, which manages the island's archives, said it would accept and deposit company records.
Stuart Nicole of Jersey Heritage said both modern and historical documents could be archived.
He said the aim of the appeal was to build up a record of Jersey businesses, which would be made available to members of the public in the future.
