Climber and alpine photographer Jonathan Griffith talks about some of his pictures.

"Alaska is a photographer's dream as this image shows, as huge swathes of unclimbed territory await.

"Two alpinists high up in the Gervasutti Couloir at sunrise on the Mont Blanc Massif, with the morning sun just touching on the glacier floor 800m below.

"Crossing the iconic Kuffner arete at sunrise. This is a relatively sharp-edged ridge that takes you up the south side of the Mont Maudit (4,465m).

"Light pollution reflected off the southern flanks of western Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc, under a full moon.

"Two alpinists on the Triangle du Tacul (4,248m) at sunrise. The jumble of ice behind is called a 'serac'- they collapse in spectacular violence as gravity slowly detaches them from the mountain.

"Nick Bullock climbing a new line in Argentiere which proved to be a lot harder than initially thought.

"Eduardo Blanchard carving past a pristine serac on the Petit Envers.

"Climber Jon Bracey on the 6c 'finger crack' of the Dam du Lac on the South Face of the Aiguille du Midi.

"Arrival at the tiny Periades Bivouac hut at 3,421m. In a very remote part of the range this wooden shelter has only enough room for three people at a squeeze.

"Speed soloist Ueli Steck about 900m up on the north face of Les Droites.

"Priming the stove under a full moon in the shadow of Mont Blanc.

"Matt Helliker soloing high up on the Red Pillar of the Aiguille de la Blatiere.

"Ueli Steck about to finish a line on the south face of the Pointe Lachenal in winter.

"A brief clearing during a winter storm gave us a chance to get back to safety." Follow the link below to read more about Jonathan's work.
