Three pensioners hurt in A75 crash near Castle Kennedy

Three women in their 80s have been injured after their car was involved in a crash with a lorry on the A75 near Castle Kennedy.

The accident, involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a Daf lorry, happened at about 14:25 on Thursday.

The 80-year-old Stranraer woman driving the car suffered broken bones in her neck and back.

Her two passengers, aged 81 and 82 and also from Stranraer, had minor cuts and bruises.

The 31-year-old man from Newton Stewart who was driving the lorry was unhurt.

The road was closed for some time while the trapped women were freed from the car and the vehicles removed.

The casualties were taken to the Galloway Community Hospital for treatment.
