A Dumfries man has been identified as the victim of a crash on the A702 near Abington, South Lanarkshire.
Alistair Wells, 56, died in Glasgow's Southern General Hospital after the accident at about 17:20 on Monday.
Six other people were injured in the crash which involved a green Honda Civic and a Peugeot 407.
Police Scotland said it was thought a white vehicle may have also been at the scene of the crash and they are trying to trace the occupants.
Four people - three men aged 49, 51 and 78 and a 19-year-old woman - were taken to Wishaw General Hospital after the incident.
A further two women - aged 17 and 51 - were taken by helicopter to the Southern General along with Mr Wells.
The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted an investigation.
