Frank Carson is due to receive the results of the liver scan this Thursday
Belfast-born comedian Frank Carson has said he is waiting to hear the results of a liver scan on Thursday following his recent operation for stomach cancer.
Mr Carson, 84, said the operation for stomach cancer had been successful.
He said he hoped the cancer had not spread any further.
"Apparently the cancer can spread easily through the veins and the arteries into the liver so I am hoping it hasn't gone that far," he said.
Mr Carson, who cancelled dates across the UK after he was diagnosed earlier this year, said he had lost about "two-thirds" of his stomach as a result of the operation.
He said as a consequence he had been finding it difficult to "eat properly".
"I have had a bad five years," he added.
"First it was the pacemaker, then it was a new knee, then I had a hernia and then of course I had this problem."
Mr Carson was due to perform in Blackpool this month with a stage version of the 1970s hit show: "The Comedians".
His place in the show has been taken by former Catchphrase presenter and fellow Irishman, Roy Walker.
Frank Carson became a popular performer on Irish television before moving to England to work as a stand-up club comedian.
He had success on shows such as "The Good Old Days" and "Opportunity Knocks" but is perhaps best known for "The Comedians" when he appeared alongside other comics including Bernard Manning.
