Kevin Prictor took no interest in the family finances, his trial was told

A man whose wife defrauded a youth football league out of nearly £200,000 has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Kevin Prictor, 58, and his wife Karen, from Swindon, "lived like kings", his trial heard, taking expensive holidays including a £7,000 trip to Florida.

She admitted defrauding the North Wiltshire and District Minor League to fund their lavish lifestyle.

Mr Prictor, who told police "I don't do finance", was cleared of possessing criminal property.

'Never see bank account'

His trial at Swindon Crown Court heard how the electrical engineer told detectives his wife did the family finances.

He said: "I don't take any notice of money being paid into my account, I never see any bank account details."

The prosecution alleged that Mr Prictor, who was the league's fixtures secretary, could not be "that daft or unquestioning about family finance".

The jury was told that between 2009 and 2013, more than £196,000 was deposited or transferred into the couple's joint account by Karen Prictor, the league's treasurer.

The youth league is one of the country's largest, with 360 teams of seven to 18 year olds competing across 40 divisions.

Karen Prictor and the league's secretary Margaret Rivers pleaded guilty to fraud, while Rivers's husband Andrew admitted possessing criminal property.
