Mr Hickox was pushed into the path of an oncoming van outside the Cardinal Wolsey
A pub landlord killed a wealthy American customer by pushing him into the path of an oncoming van with an ironing board, a court has heard.
Rostam Notarki chased Charles Hickox from the Cardinal Wolsey near Hampton Court Palace after a row over a credit card, the Old Bailey was told.
The publican had earlier switched three £65 bottles of Italian wine Mr Hickox ordered for a cheap vintage.
Mr Notarki denies the manslaughter of Mr Hickox, who died from head injuries.
Iron bar
The jury was told staff ejected Mr Hickox from the pub, but he believed they had kept his credit card and returned brandishing two tennis racquets.
He pushed the landlord with one of the racquets before running off but Mr Notarki chased him with the ironing board. His son, Kian, was carrying an iron bar.
Prosecutor Michelle Nelson said the events were captured on CCTV outside the pub in East Molesey, Surrey.
"Rostam Notarki can be seen holding the ironing board aloft and horizontally," she said.
"(He) pulled the ironing board back and then struck the victim to his upper back or neck area propelling Hickox forward into the road."
'CCTV hidden'
Mr Hickox hit his head on the front wheel of a passing van and died an hour later.
The court was told Mr Hickox, 55, was scruffy and unkempt and carried his belongings in blue plastic bags.
He looked as if he was sleeping rough but often stayed in hotels and was a successful gambler with large amounts of money.
The prosecution said the CCTV equipment was hidden from police who searched the pub.
Rostam Notarki, 53, of Beech Way, Twickenham has accepted his involvement in hiding the CCTV.
Kian Notarki, 20, of the same address and barman Mehrad Mohmadi, 45, or Radcliffe Mews, Hampton, Middlesex deny perverting the course of justice.
