The skip lorry and Ford Fiesta have undergone forensic tests
A man has been bailed after a policeman was hit by a car while trying to avoid an attack on a Staffordshire road.
The officer was threatened with a tree branch after stopping a "suspicious" lorry on the A5 near Lichfield on Tuesday evening, police said.
The officer was threatened by the lorry driver and needed surgery for a leg injury after being by a car.
The 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery has been bailed while inquiries continue.
The incident happened following a short pursuit along the A5 between Wall Island and Weeford Island.
The Staffordshire force said its investigation included "detailed forensic tests" carried out on the skip lorry which was stopped, and a Ford Fiesta which the lorry driver used to escape the scene.
