
At Leek Town's home ground the club said they send their deepest sympathies and condolences to Jordan's family
A junior Leek Town footballer has died after suffering multiple heart attacks while on holiday with his family in Turkey.
Jordan Burndred, 17, from Biddulph, died in hospital on Tuesday after being admitted 10 days ago, the club said.
A fundraising appeal was set up by the club's academy to ensure his family could remain at his bedside.
Jordan's mother, Nicola Everill, broke the news through social media, external and thanked everyone for their support.
She said the family was devastated and theirs hearts had been broken.
On its website, the club said: "The club has received the extremely sad news that our Academy player Jordan Burndred has lost his fight for life.
"Jordan passed away last night in the Turkish hospital where he had been treated since suffering a cardiac arrest 10 days ago whilst on holiday.
"Everyone at the club sends their deepest sympathies and condolences to Jordan's family and friends at this tragic time."
Tracy Harrison, a close relative of Jordan, she said a fundraising event at Longton Rugby Club would still go ahead on Wednesday evening.
