The club has started a fundraising appeal
A junior Leek Town footballer has suffered multiple heart attacks while on holiday in Turkey.
Jordan Burndred is in a critical condition in hospital with his family at his bedside, the club said.
The club has set up a fundraising appeal to help to pay for the 17-year-old's family to stay in Marmaris, which has so far raised about £5,000.
Academy manager Steve Kell, who coaches him every week, said the news was "hard to come to terms with".
A statement, external on the club's website said: "An appeal fund has set up to help to pay for his family to stay in Turkey with him through this extremely difficult time.
"If you could help and give as little or as much as possible... it would be greatly appreciated."
In a statement, Thomas Cook said staff were supporting the family after Jordan fell ill over the weekend and helping relatives in the UK to travel to Turkey.
