
Northampton Saints hopes to build the new North Stand in the summer of 2015
Plans have been approved for a new stand at Northampton Saints rugby club's ground.
The new North Stand at Franklin's Gardens will increase capacity from 13,591 to 15,500 and will include a bar and hospitality suite.
Northampton Borough Council said it had loaned the club £5.5m to build the the 2,100 seat stand in the summer of 2015.
Saints chairman Tony Hewitt said the new stand was "vital" for the long-term growth of the club.
The Aviva Premiership club said half its games this season had been sold out.
