A man has denied allegedly cheating West Ham players and staff out of thousands of pounds.

Stephen Ackerman, 47, pleaded not guilty earlier to 13 counts of fraud at a hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The people alleged to have been targeted include former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce and England striker Andy Carroll.

Mr Ackerman, of Loughton, east London, was bailed and a trial has been set for July.
