The borough council sold the Grade II listed building
An application has been submitted to use a former Lincolnshire landmark as a nightclub and entertainment venue.
The Grade II listed Boston Assembly Rooms was sold to local businessman Matthew Clark for £465,000 in November.
He said the building, which was once a popular dance venue, would be refurbished and also used for various kinds of parties and meetings.
Boston Borough Council put the venue up for sale after it said it could no longer afford to run it.
The developer wants permission to open as a mixed assembly and leisure venue that could operate as a nightclub four days a week.
It could also be used for staged entertainment, private parties, conferences and business meetings and is expected to create at least 35 jobs.
Mr Clark's application said the plan would "revitalise a prominent building" within the town.
The proposals will go before the borough council's planning committee next month.
