The baby died in hospital after emergency services were called to Church Street on 22 March
A man has been charged with the murder of a 13-month-old baby.
Liam Cairns, 26, is accused of killing the child, who died in hospital shortly after he was discovered at an address on Church Street, Preston, on 22 March.
A post-mortem examination has revealed the baby, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, died as a result of smothering, Lancashire Police said.
Mr Cairns, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court later.
A 26-year-old woman also arrested in connection with the death has been released without charge.
