A West Midlands Police officer has appeared in court on a rape charge.

Wolverhampton-based PC Ben Clay indicated a not guilty plea at Dudley Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old was arrested after an allegation was made in January. The alleged offence happened in June 2014.

He will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 2 March. PC Clay, a neighbourhood police officer, was suspended from his position following his arrest.
