50 Cent has been ordered by a bankruptcy judge to explain Instagram pictures which show him with loads of cash.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, filed for bankruptcy in July last year.

So you would think he might keep any cash he does have far from the public eye.

But no, this is 50 Cent after all. His debut album was called Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

According to The Wall Street Journal, external the judge has ordered 50 Cent to explain his posts.

"I'm concerned about allegations of nondisclosure and a lack of transparency in the case," Judge Nevins said at a hearing.

"There's a purpose of having a bankruptcy process be transparent, and part of that purpose is to inspire confidence in the process."

Papers filed in court last year reported his debts were in the range of $10m (£6m) to $50m (£32m), about the same as his reported assets.

Before filing for bankruptcy Forbes, external magazine estimated the rapper was worth $155m (£110m).

A week before filing for bankruptcy, a court ordered him to pay $5m (£3.2m) to a woman who said he'd posted a sex tape of her without permission.

She hasn't been able to collect that money since he filed for bankruptcy.
