A third of drivers across the United Kingdom have had their vehicles damaged by potholes in the last two years, a new survey by motoring organisation the AA suggests.
Local authorities are responsible for most of the roads across the country.
They have paid out hundreds of millions of pounds to fix both roads and vehicles damaged by potholes.
But after two severe winters one estimate for the total repairs needed comes in at more than £10 billion.
Newsbeat's been speaking to drivers in Inverness for their thoughts on potholes.
Sharon McKaye, 25, teacher

"The potholes here are terrible. Quite often you have to swerve to avoid them.
"They also damage your alloy wheels, or any type of wheels, and they ruin your tyres and your suspension.
"There's so many of them. I do tend to avoid them because I know where they are."
James McMillan, taxi driver, Inverness

"You actually get to know where some of the potholes are better than some of the addresses I go to. It's laughable really.
"The damage it does to our suspension and everything else - it's ridiculous.
"The council should be doing more, problem is when they do repair them they just do a patch-up job, they need to do a proper job."
Sean Clarke, 29, chef

"There are loads of potholes round here. It's becoming more and more of a problem just now.
"I had a wheel bearing that's gone, some of my sensors got knocked out of place so I put warning lights on my dashboard.
"Over £100 to fix all of that. They're just a bit annoying and unnecessary to be honest."
Vicky Sales, 26

"They are a pain. Just for damaging the car, to the wheels, the wheel bearings.
"The minute you drive through it you can feel it on the car straight away. Some of them are quite big, it can be dangerous.
"There are lots where I live but I've not had my car damaged as of yet - I'm just waiting for it to happen."
Ian Grant, 26 from Elgin

"In Elgin there are a lot of them and they're just a nightmare. They damage your car.
"There are just heaps of them. I know folk who have had their cars damaged, axles broken, wheels buckled.
"They're dangerous, I hate them."
