A pair of islanders who are creating a dictionary of Alderney patois want to see the language taught to schoolchildren.
Based on memories of his family speaking it 70 years ago, Royston Raymond and Sally Pond have translated more than 2,000 words into Alderney French.
Mr Raymond said he would like to see Alderney French treated in the same way as Jersey and Guernsey's native french languages Jèrriais and Guernesiaise, by being taught in schools in the island.

A representative of the finance sector in Guernsey has come out against State-owned airline Aurigny's decision to cancel its services to London City Airport from 27 October.
David Oxburgh, Chairman of the Guernsey International Business Association, said the route was "vital for the industry" and hoped the States of Guernsey could find an alternative provider.
The Committee for Economic Development has said it is already approaching other airlines.

A virtual reality art exhibition, supported by Digital Jersey and Arts House Jersey will showcase virtual reality (VR) environments created by local artists.
The exhibition, called FLUX, will take place on 16 September, with free access to part of the exhibition for the public from 10:00-16:00, and full ticketed access from 20:00 until late.
The event is being organised by new digital start-up companies Snap.je and Virtual Reality Jersey, who say it is an opportunity to show how VR has advanced from a gimmick to a "serious concept", with new possibilities.
Digital Jersey boss Tony Moretta says the event could be good for the industry.

The future of the Guernsey-London City route is uncertain, as the States say they are approaching other operators to take over.
The States-owned airline Aurigny announced it would be discontinuing flights to the UK airport due to a lack of interest, and high operational costs.
Deputy Peter Ferbrache, President of the Committee for Economic Development said whilst he acknowledged Aurigny's decision, there could be advantages in other operators taking the route on.

A team of Jersey pétanque players have come second in this year's home nations tournament on the English south coast.
The island's team lost out to host nation England, who have won the event every year since 2000, but came out ahead of Wales and Scotland.
It is Jersey's second year in the tournament, which took place at the Hayling Island leisure complex.
Jersey will play host for the tournament next year.

A group who are fighting plans to upgrade facilities in St Lawrence church have submitted their own alternative plans.
Heritage campaign group, Save Jersey's Heritage, have said their plans are more cost effective and more sympathetic to the building.
The parish wants to upgrade the toilet facilities for the 20th century church, and give disabled access by building an extension.
Marcus Binney, president of the group, says current proposals will hide one its best historical features.

A pair of islanders working on an Alderney French dictionary are calling for an "Auregnais Societe" to be set up, similar to those in Guernsey and Jersey, to promote the island's language and culture.
83-year-old Royston Raymond has been re-learning the local patois and has worked on a dictionary containing more than 2,000 local words.
Former french teacher Sally Pond has been helping him, and wants to resurrect the language through the new societe.

Passengers with tickets for Aurigny flights departing after 27 October for London City Airport have been reassured by the airline they will be contacted to make arrangements to refund or replace the journey.
The States-owned operator announced it would be axing the route from this date due to a lack of demand, and high operational costs.
The airline said passengers would either be offered a full refund, or alternative flights on Aurigny's network.
Customers will be contacted by the airline itself, or their relevant travel agent.

Cards outlining new tariffs for taxis in Jersey have been printed and are to be displayed in all vehicles, according to the Department for Infrastructure.
It says the cards will allow passengers to easily see how their fares are calculated.
The cards also set out the maximum level of fares for all taxi-cabs, excluding booking fees from private hire companies.
However, drivers and companies are able to charge less if they want.

Alan Stevenson Boyle is proposed by Deputy Heidi Soulsby and seconded by Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq.
Callum Andrew Beaton is proposed by Deputy Lyndon Trott and seconded by Deputy Charles Parkinson.

Passengers travelling with Aurigny from Guernsey to Gatwick will be dealing with the company's own staff door-to-door in the future, the airline has said.
The carrier announced it will be deploying its own ground operations staff at the UK airport to "enhance customer experience".
The change was announced alongside the news the company would be stopping flights to London City Airport.

A shop window has been smashed and alcohol stolen from the premises in Jersey, police have said.
It happened at the Food Hall in Val Plaisant, at about 01:00 on Tuesday.
Police are viewing the CCTV and want to speak to a man in connection with the incident.
Officers are appealing for witnesses.

Fuel has been drained from a car in Guernsey, police have said.
The vehicle, a green Honda Civic, was parked near the main Grandes Rocques bus stop in Castel.
It happened between Friday 4 August and Sunday 6 August.

it is difficult to see the cost of air travel falling in the near future, an airline boss has said.
CEO for Blue Islands, Rob Veron, said islanders have "short memories" when it comes to travelling off-island, with fares historically costing more, in real terms, than today.
Mr Veron said prices are set "for a reason" and costs are "continuing to increase" for airlines.
