The Director of Civil Aviation for the Channel Islands has said they'll be keeping a close eye on developments in the UK over regulations governing drones.

The government announced the introduction of a registration system for drones amid growing concern about the dangers they pose to aircraft.

Under the new rules, owners will have to attend safety awareness courses.

Gus Paterson believes this will be difficult to enforce and he would like to see a "common sense" approach adopted locally.

    Quote Message

I think that going after the vehicle itself, the drone itself, particularly as they get smaller, as they proliferate, is just going to be more and more difficult, and it's unlikely that would be the approach we follow in the Channel Islands."
