Sark's government has "formally acknowledged" the UK's decision to leave the European Union at their Easter meeting today.
Chief Pleas discussed Brexit for the first time following talks with the UK Justice Select Committee.
The committee wanted to ensure any future Brexit settlement protected the island's tourism and fishing industry and stressed the same to the UK Justice Select Committee.

Jersey's Health minister has been challenged not "to stand idly by while care agencies compete in an open market" by Reform Jersey politician Deputy Geoff Southern.
The St Helier politician says Family Nursing and Homecare was forced to change its staff conditions due to a subsidy cut. He says staff face lower pay and zero hours contracts.
He argues that the minister should act to protect workers conditions, and is asking the states to support him in a proposition due to be debated at the end of May.
The minister, Senator Andrew Green, has already said that he has no control over how the agency deals with its staff.

All but one of Guernsey's States members voted in favour of same sex marriage on what senior politician Deputy Gavin St Pier described as a "historic day" for the island. Barry Paint was the only deputy to reject the new law.
Same sex couples will be able to marry from Tuesday 2 May and a spokeswoman for equality charity Liberate said she couldn't wait for the first same sex wedding.

Money from Jersey will be used to help thousands of people with diabetes in Rwanda and other African countries.
Jersey Overseas Aid is providing £100,000 per year over four years to provide training in retina screening for eye specialists from five African countries.
Dr Ciku Matenge who is running the programme says many patients would go blind if it wasn't for this programme.

Drivers in St Helier will have to drive slower in future as the speed limit in the centre of the Jersey capital has been dropped from 30mph to 20mph.
At a meeting this morning the St Helier Roads Committee voted to cut the limit within the ring road.
The decision now has to be presented to the infrastructure minister who will make any necessary changes to the law. The change will come in after that has happened but we don't have an exact date at the moment.

When you think about the most connected places in the world your mind often goes to Asian countries like Japan or South Korea, but what about somewhere closer to home?
Image source, ReutersA new report by streaming company Akamai found that Guernsey is only behind South Korea in terms of broadband adoption rates.
According to the States of the Internet report, 97% of Guernsey residents have at least 4Mbps broadband. That compares to a global average of 79% adoption of at least 4Mbps broadband.
Guernsey's largest telecom company Sure said: "Being second in the world for broadband connectivity is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the investment by Sure and others in the island’s digital future."

Brexit could allow Guernsey to pursue deals with a wider range of countries than is currently possible due to the UK's membership in the EU, according to Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq.
He says he has been told by companies that going after certain deals could impact on the island's relationship with the UK, but after Brexit that would likely change.

Voluntary and private sectors could form a partnership with the States of Guernsey in the future to help with the maintenance of open spaces, according to the chairman of Floral Guernsey.
Pat Johnson says the private and voluntary sector has a lot to contribute towards the upkeep of open spaces and can often do it cheaper than the States.
Government officials have said that while park spending is frozen at £760,00 for now, it could face cuts as part of wider States budget cuts over the next two years.

Maintaining fishing exports to France is a key issue for Sark during Brexit negotiations, that's according to Chief Pleas Policy and Performance Chairman, Charles Maitland.
He says most of Sark's legislation falls in line with Guernsey but the island has some unique concerns including being able to sell fishing produce to France.
