A landslide followed a heavy downpour has blocked the Rue A L'Or near St Saviour's Reservoir.
Guernsey Police have asked motorists to avoid the area.
Witness Ken described it as "three to four lorry loads of soil" and said it was "nearly blocking the road".

Savings targets and more contractual obligations have been included in a new contract agreed between the States of Guernsey and the Medical Specialist Group.
A joint statement says the provision of secondary healthcare will be covered under a rolling contract with a five-year notice period.
The current contract, which expires on 31st December 2017, has a cost of £18.34m and has just one principal contractual obligation - an eight-week waiting time for appointments and operations.
The new contract includes savings for MSG of 3% in 2018, 2% in 2019 and a further 1% in 2020. As such the 2018 starting price on a like for like basis with the 2017 cost is £17.67m.
It also includes key performance indicators, includes the eight-week target, to enable the service to be monitored across a broad range of measures.

Two vehicles have collided at the junction of La Vrangue and Guelles Road, Guernsey's emergency services have reported.
They ask motorists to avoid the area for at least the next 20 minutes.

Last year saw more than 365,000 people visit Jersey as holidaymakers in 2016, up thousands on the year before. That's according to tourism body Visit Jersey.

The group revealed that in 2016 those visitors collectively spent about £228m in the island.
Visit Jersey figures show staying holiday visitors from the UK increased 7% and Germany 6%, whilst those from France declined 6% and from Guernsey declined 22%.
Head of Visit Jersey, Keith Beecham, said accommodation bookings for summer 2017 were already looking good.

The case of a dog impounded by customs and suspected of being a "banned breed" this week is being compared to the case of Mr Bronx, a dog impounded last year and described as a "pit bull" type.
Image source, Veronika BenhakakMr Bronx made headlines and had his case shared by many, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Anthony Head. After appeals in the press and courts Mr Bronx was allowed to return to his owners under the condition he is kept muzzled and on a lead while outside.
In this latest case a dog called Gulietta brought to Jersey from Slovakia by Veronika Benhakak is currently at the Jersey Animal Shelter after three independent experts said it was a "pit bull type" dog. It could be put down if an appeal is unsuccessful.
Miss Benhakak cited the fact Mr Bronx was returned to its owners as a reason why her dog should be returned to her.
A spokesman for the Jersey customs service said: "The [service] deals with every case of this kind separately, and the specific circumstances that might apply to one animal and its owners cannot automatically be assumed to apply to others."

Jersey's Environment Minister, Deputy Steve Luce, isn't very popular with anglers in Jersey. He says the restrictions he imposed on bass fishing didn't go down very well with fishermen.
Anglers say the restrictions are unfair because they catch so few fish, while some commercial fishermen are worried about their livelihoods.

A dog seized by customs officers two days after being allowed to enter Jersey from Europe has been identified as a "banned breed" by three independent experts, that's according to the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service.

Gulietta was brought into the island by owner Veronika Benhakak on Sunday. The dog was micro chipped, had a pet passport and its lineage details were given to customs who initially allowed Ms Benhakak to take the dog home.
Two days later Miss Benhakak was asked to take the dog into customs where it was impounded.
Customs say: "The dog will remain in the care of the [customs] while this matter is being investigated, and the service's officers will continue to liaise with the dog’s owner."

A woman whose daughter has suffered from Anorexia from a young age says support for eating disorders in Jersey has improved over the past few years.
Figures from the health department show there are about 23 people currently being treated for health disorders and a new recovery college is being launched to support those with mental health issues.
Karen Dingle says the help her daughter Amy has been given over the years has steadily improved.

Mick Fooks was speaking after concerns were raised that runners and fitness groups were eroding and damaging the paths.

The Jersey FA Men's team will play a side from the Panjab FA at Springfield Stadium in April.
The fixture will be the second time the two associations have met for a friendly. Last year Jersey traveled to play them in Kidderminster and won the game 2-0.

The Assistant Minister for e-Government, Deputy Scott Wickenden, wants Jersey to launch an e-petition site similar to the one that saw two million people urge Theresa May to revoke Donald Trump's state visit invite.
He says unlike the UK, where it takes 100,000 signatures to get a debate in parliament, in Jersey a petition would need about 5,000 signatures for the States to debate the issue. He says it will make people more engaged with the political system.
