    Tonight will be breezy and cloudy and the cloud will be thick enough at times to produce the odd spot of rain in the early hours. The minimum temperature will be 11C (52F) 

    A rather cloudy day is in store tomorrow, though some bright or sunny spells are still likely. It will stay fairly cool too with a risk of the odd shower. 

    It will still be breezy but a lot less windy than today. The maximum temperature will be 14C (57F)

    Jersey is to send emergency funds to support Syrian civilians who face months of winter hardship, external as they live through a conflict described as ‘the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War’, the Jersey Evening Post reports.

    A record number of cruise ship passengers visited Guernsey this year. 

    Latest figures show almost 130,000 passengers came to the island - 8,000 more than last year.

    Despite fewer ships calling at St Peter Port, it's the fifth year passenger numbers have gone up. 

    Visit Guernsey says with six cruise ships still due to visit before the season ends on Sunday, that number will rise further.

    The forecast for next year predicts a sixth year of growth, with a potential passenger capacity of 160,000 passengers with the tourism agency expecting that number to rise before the season restarts in March.

    It's the 25th annual Institute of Directors debate in Guernsey tonight and this year the theme is "Unlocking Health, Wealth and Happiness for Guernsey".

    Guernsey's business leaders come together to discuss how they can work with government and the third sector to achieve common goals.

    I was actually invited along to this event when I was 16, but haven't been asked back since.

    Clearly my ideas weren't very good...

    The number of people unemployed in Guernsey has dropped by 15 in the past month.

    There were 367 people unemployed at the end of September.

    A further 229 people were registered as unemployed but had some work during the last week of the month. 

    This number includes people in part-time or casual employment as well as some people who are fully employed but who are eligible for supplementary benefit on top of their low earnings.

    Jersey Post is hosting a conference for 60 people to show how streamlined the postal system is on the island.

    Jersey's postal service has been working with a German company to install a more efficient process to sort and deliver letters and parcels.

    Andy Jehan from Jersey Post says the conference is a chance to show other international post office, external what they can do.

    A freedom of information request has revealed the department at the centre of the South Africa flights controversy has spent thousands of pounds sending senior civil servants to England international rugby matches at Twickenham.

    The identity of the guests is not known but the job titles of the civil servants is. 

    They suggest that the two civil servants caught up earlier this year in the South Africa flights controversy - the department's Chief Executive Mike King and Locate Jersey Director Wayne Gallichan - went to seven of the games between them.

    All fishing for bass is likely to be banned in Jersey waters next year.

    Scientists who advise the European Union say stocks are continuing to fall and have recommended a complete ban next year.

    Recreational fishermen have already been restricted to one fish per day.

    Jersey's Environment Minister Deputy Steve Luce says if the EU ban does go ahead, he'll ban all fishing from the start of next year.

    Guernsey's new Population Management Regime is a great opportunity for businesses, according to the chairman of the Population Employment Advisory Panel.

    The new panel has been appointed to offer advice on who gets employment permits in Guernsey in future.

    The new regime will be introduced in April. 

    Peter Gillson says between now and then local firms have to make their needs clear.

    The "out of control bonfire" is along Long Trac Lane in St Martins, just West of Icart Point on the South Cliffs.

    The fire has spread to nearby hedges and trees.

    Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.

    The conduct of Jersey Reds hooker Nick Selway has been hailed by head coach Harvey Biljon after the forward was cleared of dangerous play by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel.

    Selway was accused of a dangerous tackle in the islanders' 23-18 Championship loss at London Welsh on Saturday, a charge that was amended to one of dangerous charging, both of which he denied.

    "Nick has got an exemplary track record and I'm really pleased that we got the right outcome," head coach Harvey Biljon told BBC Radio Jersey. "There was no intention by Nick in any way to injure anyone. It was one of those rugby incidents where it is a contact sport and you're going to get injuries."
