A pedestrian was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after he was hit by a car near a town's railway station.
Suffolk Police was called to the junction of Princes Street and Burrell Road in Ipswich just before 13:40 on Thursday.
The 21-year-old man was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which involved a silver Rover 25.

Latvian national, Mr Volkausks, who worked as a vegetable picker, was lured to the house in Pen Street on the 23 September last year.
Nottingham Crown Court heard he was tied up, gagged and beaten to within an inch of his life, in a sustained attack.
He died the following day in hospital.
Mindaugas Cerneckas, who's 30, and 37-year-old Donatos Dektiarovas, both from Pen Street, Boston, and Andrius Barauskas, 39, from Smalley Road, Boston, were jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of murder.
Pavel Grunt-Meyer, 30, from Wisbech, and Tautvydas Vainolavicius, 20, also from Pen Street, Boston, received 14 and 12 years respectively, after being found guilty of manslaughter.
Two men used sledgehammers to raid the cafe, once used by famous writers.

Norwich band Peach Club, external has put out a single to speak out against the exploitation of young fans by older men in the music industry.
Image source, Peach ClubBand member Katie Revell told the BBC that the song Boy In A Band, which has been released today, is "super important to us because it’s about this epidemic that’s happening in the music industry, where older men are taking advantage of young fans".
"It’s such a sad and disgusting thing for a man to use his power to abuse women, but it’s happening all the time," she said.
"If we can raise awareness to it happening in our circle, perhaps it’ll help the entire movement."

A former city councillor has hit out at the Labour Party after stepping down from the Cambridge City Council in protest against rules over transgender people's access to public toilets.
Ann Sinnott, who represented Petersfield, has left the political party saying she feels "betrayed" and citing her disappointment at a decision to allow transgender women to be part of all-women shortlists.
Ms Sinnott stressed she was "not anti-trans", but said the council was in breach of the Equalities Act 2010, external.
She said allowing self-identifying trans-women to use women's facilities where "biological women" would "expect privacy and dignity" could expose them to potential risk.
Labour declined to comment on Ms Sinnott's resignation or criticism of the party.

A man has been given a suspended sentence after admitting conning cashiers at shops across Norfolk out of amounts ranging from £15 to £240.

Norwich Magistrates' Court heard he would go into shops, buy a small value item and then ask for change for a £20 or £50 note and confuse the cashier.
The targets included Sainsbury’s and Savers in Norwich, Wymondham Garden Centre and Costa Coffee at Hoveton.
Magistrates sentenced Harber to 36 weeks, suspended for 18 months and he was ordered to pay back the £900 he gained and pay £225 in prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.
A 16-year-old is being questioned over a sexual assault on a boy at a nature reserve.

The A12 was closed southbound.
