  11. Bid to save city's last grass tennis courtspublished at 15:58 BST 27 July 2018

Campaigners hoping to save the last remaining grass tennis courts in Norwich have called a public meeting.

Ten courts at Heigham Park have been closed since last summer and could be replaced with three all-weather courts by Norwich City Council.

Heigham Park Grass Courts Group wants to take on the running and maintenance of the courts, which it said had been part of the park for almost 100 years.

Gavin McFarlane, the group’s secretary, said: "We are not fighting against hard court tennis whatsoever, but there are several other places to do that in the city... without Heigham Park there will be no grass court provisions left in the area at all.”
