  2. Bury St Edmunds brown bin payment system comes inpublished at 17:57 GMT 14 March 2016

    People living in and around Bury St Edmunds will have their green waste collected for the final time over the next fortnight, if they have decided not to pay for their brown bin.

    Final collections will be made in the first weekend of April.

    After that people will have to pay for their garden waste to be collected. St Edmundsbury Borough Council, external previously told BBC Radio Suffolk brown bins were not being taken away from properties.

    Staying dry tonight with clear spells bringing the risk of a patchy frost, but areas of low cloud may feed in from the North Sea at times.

    The northeasterly breeze will gradually ease, with temperatures falling to 1C (34F) in rural spots.

    Here's another picture of "Prince" Roy and "Princess" Joan Bates, who together established the tiny state of Sealand back in the 1960s.

    Joan, a former model, died last Thursday, three-and-a-half years after her husband Roy.

    Her grandson James confirmed her death and said her funeral is to be held on Thursday.

    Today we've been reporting the death of "Princess" Joan Bates of Sealand, the tiny independent state off the East coast.

    Ipswich Borough Council, external has apologised on social media after it was "overwhelmed" by the number of people wanting to attend science shows at Christchurch Park on Saturday, with many having to be turned away.

    One disappointed visitor commented on Facebook, external: "Such a shame it was so oversubscribed and we couldn't book in advance."

    Another commented: "Four very disappointed boys got here half an hour early to be informed it's full."

    But another, more fortunate visitor, said: "This was such a great event - thank you for putting on a great show and to the lovely staff!"

  8. School making progress - but still in special measurespublished at 16:39 GMT 14 March 2016

    Ipswich's Chantry Academy is making progress but remains in special measures after its fourth inspection in the last 14 months. 

    Ofsted inspected Chantry Academy, external at the end of February and said overall standards were improving and praised the leadership team and pupils' behaviour. 

    But the school is still classed as inadequate and was criticised for not monitoring the progress of children with special education needs thoroughly enough.

    Ipswich Borough council has apologised on social media after its Science Show at Christchurch Mansion was inundated with visitors, leaving many youngsters disappointed.

    The council had not allowed advance bookings for the three sessions, which had a capacity of 45 people, and said it was "overwhelmed" by the number of people who turned up on Saturday. Some people were told to queue for 90 minutes to secure a place.

    In a statement, it said, external: "A big thank you to all for the feedback that has been posted on Facebook, we wish to apologise for any disappointment that the popularity of the event may have caused regarding availability of spaces. We will be using all points raised in order to further improve future events."

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy says teenage midfielder Teddy Bishop could miss the entire season.

    The 19-year-old hasn't kicked a competitive ball since May because of a combination of shin splints and a hamstring injury.

    "We've not got many games left to be thinking of playing him," McCarthy told BBC Suffolk Sport. "He won't be back before the international break and we've only got eight games when we come back. It's looking like a season written off."

    Goalkeeper Dean Gerken and midfielder Kevin Foley are both available again for Ipswich Town's, external home match against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow night.

    The pair missed Saturday's defeat at Cardiff but manager Mick McCarthy has been telling BBC Suffolk Sport that they trained this morning.

    "They're both alright," said McCarthy. "Gerks was violently ill on Friday night and Kevin Foley had had a bang in the ribs, but they're both fine."

    Dame Esther Rantzen has given her backing to a new Age UK Suffolk campaign, external aimed at changing the way we view older people.

    It's called There's More to Me and it's the charity's call for people to stop treating older people as a group or a statistic, and see them more as individuals. 

    Dame Esther, founder of the Silver Line Helpline, said: "Quite often you will look at an older person, walking with difficulty, head down not looking left or right and assume it's because they're feeling unfriendly, but often it's because they're so used to being ignored."

    • Sealand has its own flag, stamps, currency and passports
    • Dramas over the years included rival attempts to storm the old tower, and a major fire
    • In the 1960s Roy and Joan Bates, seen above with a friend, launched their own pirate radio station
    • In 2012, singer Ed Sheeran became a "baron" of Sealand, a title also given to Terry Wogan and Ben Fogle

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy accepts it's an important week for him and his players, but is warning supporters that their two home games won't be easy.

    With Town currently four points outside the play-off places after Saturday's defeat at Cardiff, and with some tricky away trips to come, fans are hoping for a six-point haul against Rotherham and Blackburn.

    "They're no mugs either team," McCarthy said. "Rotherham were 3-0 down and drew 3-3 with Derby on Saturday and I've watched Blackburn and they've got good players, so we'll have to be really at it and play well to win both."
