    Tuesday will start off mostly dry and bright with some sunshine, although cloud will increase later with the risk of some rain towards evening.

    A teenage boy has been attacked by a man in Eastfield in Scarborough during a car park robbery.

    It happened on the evening of Wednesday 1 February when the 16-year-old was pulled from a moped and had his jacket stolen at the car park near the Musham Bank roundabout.

    Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact police.

    A man from West Yorkshire has broken the world record for the fastest time to visit all 92 English league grounds.

    Ed Wood, 51, from Leeds, travelled the 22,000 miles in just 189 days, which also included a trip to England based Berwick Rangers.

    Ed shaved 48 days off the last record, which also saw him watch 93 games of football, with some games taking place on the same day.

    The north of England is facing a growing east-west divide on transport investment, according to a new study from think tank the Institute for Public Policy Research, external (IPPR).

    Motorway traffic

    The Yorkshire and Humber region will see transport spending worth £190 per person over the next five years.

    That compares to £682 in the North West of England, despite a relatively small difference in population - 5.33 million in Yorkshire and Humber compared to 7.05 million in the North West.

    The study suggests the North West has so far been the major beneficiary of the government's "Northern Powerhouse" drive.

  9. Police appeal after boy hit by car in Doncasterpublished at 16:50 GMT 20 February 2017

    A 10-year-old boy needed hospital treatment after he was hit by a car in Doncaster.

    The incident happened at about 17:35 on Friday as the boy was riding his bike over the crossing outside Sainsbury's on Sandringham Road.

    The driver of the car is thought to have stopped after the collision to check how the boy was, before driving away towards Tudor Road.

    Anyone who saw the incident is being asked to contact police.

    Carney, 28, has been charged with Grade C contact with a match official, while Jones-Buchanan, 35, is accused of Grade A dangerous contact.

    Salford won 30-20 at Huddersfield, while Leeds beat Leigh 17-14.

    Neither player was entitled to an early guilty plea as both had taken within the past 12 months.

    Neither player was cautioned by match officials during their respective games.

    The transport minister has defended the planned HS2 high-speed rail route which will run through South and West Yorkshire and into part of North Yorkshire, saying the project shouldn't be derailed because of how it affects homeowners.

    HS2 will connect with the East Coast Main Line at the North Yorkshire village of Church Fenton, where residents have already reported negative effects on house prices even though the route won't be operational until 2033.

    The owner of the Victoria Gate shopping centre in Leeds says it expects to have submitted a planning application for the second phase of the development by the end of the year.

    It comes as the company announces a big drop in profits for the last year.

    It was a marriage proposal 260 years in the making when Jeff Rowland popped the question with a little help from an antique cabinet at Temple Newsam in Leeds.

    Jeff, 34, took his unsuspecting girlfriend, Sarah Reynolds, 32, on a Valentine’s Day trip to the historic house last week to see the Tudor mansion's Channon cabinet.

    During the tour, a member of the Temple Newsam team opened each drawer in succession, eventually revealing an engagement ring which had been safely hidden there earlier that day.

    Originally from Australia, Jeff and Sarah moved to Leeds last year after being together for just six weeks so Sarah could study for a PHD in cultural studies at the University of Leeds.

    Sarah, who accepted Jeff's proposal, says: "When I spotted the ring, it hit me and I broke down into tears. It was very overwhelming and an incredibly creative and beautiful way to ask."

    North Yorkshire Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with a violent incident in York earlier this month.

    The appeal comes after a fight outside the Three Cranes pub in St Sampsons Square in York in the early hours of Sunday 5 February.

    Several men were arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

    A few traffic and travel problems are being reported in Yorkshire. These are the latest details:

    • Heavy traffic and heavier than normal traffic's currently reported on the M62 Eastbound at J26 M606/A58 (Chain Bar)
    • There are delays on yellow route Sheffield Supertram services between Middlewood and the Meadowhall Interchange
    • There's slow traffic on the A59 York Road in both directions at Station Road due to roadworks
