An 18-year-old from Shrewsbury is trying to raise £2,500 to buy a prosthetic leg and swimsuit, so she can take her niece and nephew swimming when they go on holiday.

Timmy Peart has a genetic condition known as vascular type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes her to have fragile blood vessels and intestines and has had dozens of operations, one of them to amputate a leg,

She also has a permanent drip to administer drugs.

She is going on holiday to Turkey next year and says she really wants to swim and go up the ladder to the water slide, but she can’t do that without a lightweight false leg and swimsuit to protect her drip line.

She is being supported by a surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Mark Cheetham, who has set up a Just Giving page for her., external

Slow Food England has announced it will be coming to the town the day before the annual Ludlow Food Festival.

The new manager of AFC Telford United, Rob Edwards, takes charge for his first league match tomorrow.

They travel to York and he's been talking about his pride at leading the team which he used to support as a boy.

The Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst has wished the new manager of AFC Telford United good luck ahead of the start of the new season.

He described Rob Edwards as a "good guy" who is "very well thought of at Wolves".

And Hurst went on to say that he'd like all local clubs to do well because it was good for interest in football in the area.

“Hold my hand,” were the last words of a Shropshire father as he desperately tried to rescue his daughter, external as they got into difficulty in the sea while on holiday.

A coroner has concluded that the death of a Shropshire managing director who drowned while trying to rescue his daughter from the sea while on holiday in southern Italy was an accident.

Simon Pearson from Old Church Stoke in Powys went into the water after his 10-year-old daughter got into trouble off the coast of Ostuni in Puglia.

She was rescued, but coroner John Ellery accepted the conclusion of the Italian police that Mr Pearson drowned, along with a local man who went to help.
