    More than 100 cars have been targeted by police forces in the West Midlands as part of a major crackdown on street racing. 

    Officers say so-called "car cruising" is becoming an increasing problem in the region. 

    All four police forces in the West Midlands have been involved in trying to tackle the problem. You can see more in Midlands Today on BBC One tonight from 18:30.

    The Ludlow MP Philip Dunne says confidence needs to be restored in the leadership of Shropshire's Clinical Commissioning Group.

    The CCG, which is already in special measures, has been given directions by NHS England today, with the aim of bringing its growing deficit under control.

    The accountable officer in charge of Telford's CCG, David Evans, has now agreed to run both bodies and Mr Dunne says he welcomes the appointment.

  5. Hospital apology for Ludlow baby deathpublished at 17:47 BST 4 April 2016

    The recently appointed chief executive of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust has apologised, external to the parents of Kate Stanton-Davies, for the care which he said had "contributed to the death" in 2009.

    Simon Wright wrote to Rhiannon Davies and Richard Stanton ahead of today's meeting saying he apologised unreservedly for the shortcomings in care and for the way the NHS handled their complaints.

    He said an independent report published on Friday evening made "difficult reading" - all the more so because it had "only come about because of the determination of Richard and Rhiannon to bring to light the failures of the original investigation".

    A meeting to discuss the independent report into the death is still ongoing.

    In an emotional statement to the hospital trust, Rhiannon Davies and Richard Stanton described their baby daughter's final few hours and their panic at times of not even knowing where she was or what care she was receiving.

  7. Parents call for 'culture of truth' at Shropshire hospitalspublished at 17:30 BST 4 April 2016

    The parents of a baby who died after being born at Ludlow's Community Hospital has been speaking to hospital directors this afternoon and said there had been a culture of "lies, deflection, harmful communication and cover up".

    Rhiannon Davies also said she and her partner Richard Stanton had given up the last seven years of their lives find out what had happened.

    She said she wanted to see a "culture of truth, openness, honesty and accountability for all staff" in the future.

    An independent review has concluded the hospital trust abdicated its responsibility for investigating the death and failed to hold staff to account over the death that has previously been described as "avoidable".

    A short film has been produced to encourage people to come to Shrewsbury this summer.

    Events on the horizon include the Cartoon Festival, Shakespeare Day, Shropshire Kids Festival and Shrewsbury Bookfest. And further ahead there are big ones like the flower and folk festivals.

    The video has been commissioned by the Shrewsbury BID, external group, which represents local traders.

  10. Shropshire CCG's growing debtpublished at 16:19 BST 4 April 2016

    The Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group was put into special measures in November, in an effort to control its mounting debt and 40 measures were identified as a way of controlling it.

    Back then the deficit stood at £10m. That has risen to over £13m this year and it is now forecast to top £14m - above the target of £11.1m set by NHS England.

    The CCG said there was a problem with financial assumptions being incorrect in the past and blamed the growing overspend on "increased activity levels" at hospitals and GP practices this winter.

    A group from Autism Together, external is walking 100 miles down the Shropshire Union Canal to raise money for the work it does in the Wirral area.

    The staff and families involved also want to use the opportunity to talk to people they meet about autism.

  15. Ancient Greek technology to generate electricity in Ludlowpublished at 14:40 BST 4 April 2016

    The Ludlow Hydro Co-operative, external is installing an Archimedes screw next to Ludford Mill in Ludlow to generate electricity.

    The idea dates back to the 3rd Century BC. Water from the river will turn it and the group says it should produce around 150,000 kWh per year - enough to supply 40 homes.

    This form of turbine has been chosen, because fish can pass through it without being harmed, the group says.

    The work has been put on hold until now because the river levels were too high over the winter.

    AFC Telford United say they're "humbled" by a £5,000 donation from a supporter.

    It came out of the blue in the post from a fan who wants to help the club move forward financially, but who doesn't want his name made public.

    It's thought to be the biggest one-off donation ever received by the club.

    A new insurance scheme starts this week to help people living in areas at risk of flooding get affordable cover. 

    The scheme called Flood Re has been set up by the government and insurance companies.

  19. No charges over coin thrown at Chris Bruntpublished at 13:21 BST 4 April 2016

    A Shropshire teenager arrested after a coin was thrown at West Bromwich Albion's Chris Brunt during an FA Cup match will face no further action, police say.

    The 17-year-old was given a caution for using threatening words, Thames Valley Police said.

    The Northern Ireland player was hit in the face by the coin during the 20 February game against Reading after he went to give his shirt to a supporter.

    It is thought no charges were brought due to a lack of evidence.
