    A clear evening, with the chance of some mist and fog patches forming as the night begins.

    It will be chilly overnight, particularly in rural areas, but most of us will see lows of 9C (48F).

    More than £400,000 has been paid to rogue traders in Oxfordshire over the past year - and trading standards officers in the county say they've received about 370 complaints about doorstep crime.

    A 21-year-old man from West Yorkshire has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault, external on a 10-year-old boy at Cherwell Services on the M40.

    The attack happened at about 15:00 on Sunday 23 August in the toilets, when the boy was touched over his clothing by a man.

    The number of claims made by motorists for damage by potholes on Oxfordshire’s roads has dropped by more than a third, external, new figures show, but motorists have said the “hassle” of claiming is why fewer people are appealing against the rulings.

    After denying causing the injuries that killed his 11-week-old son Jayden, Jordon Saxton could offer no explanation how the baby was hurt.

    He told a court he had done nothing wrong and he dialled 999 after the baby stopped breathing.

    Asked by prosecution barrister Paul Dunkles if he had an explanation as to how his son suffered 18 bone fractures as well as brain and spinal injuries, Mr Saxton answered "no".

    He denies murder.

  10. Travel latest: A40 roadworks queues and A34 building up at Marchampublished at 17:02

    The A40 Northern Bypass roadworks are causing their usual delays at Cutteslowe and Wolvercote. Northbound routes out of the city are also busy.

    The A34 southbound at Marcham is also starting to build down to the works at the Milton Interchange.

    The US ambassador has been in Oxford today, meeting council and university representatives, as well as Artie the artificial intelligence robot from Oxford Brookes.

    Matthew Barzun was invited to the city to see the partnerships between hi-tech firms and academic institutions, and says: "I love what is happening here.”

  13. Study into third Thames bridge at Readingpublished at 16:24

    Preparation work is starting for a third bridge over the Thames in Reading.

    A study of congestion and whether or not a crossing is feasible is being carried out, partly funded by South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council.

    Four men have been found guilty of attacking former Oxford United footballer Robbie Hughes in Crete in 2008, leaving him with brain damage.

    The four men from Horley and Hookwood were convicted of grievous bodily harm in 2012, but later appealed.

    The four are awaiting sentencing.

    Parts of The Leys and Rose Hill in Oxford are among the 10% most deprived areas of the country, according to figures released by the Department for Communities and Local Government, external.

    Oxford City Council leader Bob Price said, external: "Barton, Rose Hill and The Leys have been key priority areas for the council for the past decade and we are using as many methods as we can – spending tens of millions of pounds – to tackle deprivation."
